Opportunities

for service

Kenya came through elections in 2013 without widespread violence, for which we return thanks to God. Corruption is endemic in Kenyan society, and keeps the elite rich while the masses remain in poverty. Pray for just and honest government that will help the poor and punish the wicked. The terrorist attack on a Nairobi shopping centre by al-Shabab in September 2013 underlines the threats to everyday life across sub-Saharan Africa, where the tensions between Islam and Christianity are most apparent.

There has been rapid growth among Kenyan churches, so that nearly half the population call themselves evangelical. Training leaders is an urgent priority, as missionaries seek to make leaders accountable and more

Christ-like, and churches to be known for their grasp of Christian doctrine and practical discipleship.
