Annual Mission Day

GBM Annual Mission Day is one of the largest events in Britain that is completely dedicated to world mission. Because we are a church-based mission, it is an event that brings together churches, not just to hold our annual business meeting for church delegates, but also because so many churches see world mission as their task and they want to be part of the day in all that happens.

Annual Mission Day brings together about 800 people from hundreds of churches, united by an interest in world mission. The day includes a wide range of presentations made by serving missionaries, a multi-media presentation in the afternoon which explores the theme of the day, and a keynote preacher who brings and exposition from God’s Word in the final session. There is also a children’s programme, and the building is filled with loads of exhibitions and resources, as well as displays from our partner missions.

If you want to get a feel for GBM, coming to Annual Mission day is essential. Meet new missionaries, see new resources freshly published, and be ready to be challenged to think about aspects of mission you hadn’t explored before. We promise you will go home wanting to bring others from your church next time.

Annual Mission Day 2017

GBM Annual Mission Day this year is on 28 October 2017. The venue is Friends House in London. Situated on the Euston Road, opposite Euston Station, it is easily accessed by public transport from all over the country. As well as the main conference hall, ‘The Light’, we’ll be using a number of rooms for break out sessions during the day. There is a restaurant and cafe in the building and an abundance of food outlets on the Euston Road.

On 31 October 1517, Martin Luther published his 95 theses against the papal abuse of indulgences, which began, ‘Out of love and zeal for bringing the truth to life…’ World mission is about bringing the truth to light. As the Word of God spreads across the world, so the world is turned upside down by the light of the gospel. We want this year’s 500th anniversary of the Reformation to shape our thinking about mission in the future.

The main speaker is Matthew Gamston from Trinity Baptist Church, Gloucester. Matt served for many years as a missionary in Manila, The Philippines. Others taking part include Tom and Lucy Forryan, Phil and Lydia Evans, James Hammond, Sarah Clay, Andrzej Kempczynski, Gilbert McAdam, GBM Radio Team, GBM Literature, and other new missionaries.

There will be a Mission Club for primary aged children. Friends House has a basement restaurant serving hot meals, and there are a number of food outlets in the neighbourhood. Hot drinks and refreshments are available in the Friends House cafe.

GBM Annual Mission Day includes our Annual General Meeting in the morning session. This is for delegates from GBM member churches. To find out whether your church is a member church, please contact Mission Centre.
