GBM Annual Mission Day 26 October 2019
my church | our mission
The local church as God’s base camp for mission
Your local church is at the heart of God’s plan for world mission. Local churches train disciples and send them into mission to plant churches. Not every church gets to send someone, but we can all partner together in supporting and praying for those who go. Many Christians connect with world mission by serving through our Envision programme. Together, we are united in Christ in the work of world mission.
Come to GBM Annual Mission Day to find out more about how you can play a part in your church’s role in world mission. Listen to presentations from those serving in mission. Gather ideas for promoting world mission in your church. Be encouraged as a great crowd of Christians worship God together. Finish the day with ministry from Theo Donner who serves in the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellin.
Many other missionaries will be with us, including Daniel and Ellie Caballero, Jean Ellis, Nicola Edkins, James Hammond, Andrzej Kempczyński, Jason and Andrea Murfitt, those working among Asians in the UK and in Bible translation in West Africa, and our GBM Radio team. We will also be saying farewells to Jean Ellis and to Jim and Helen Sayers.
11.00am: AGM for Church Delegates
3.00pm: My church – our mission – multimedia presentation
4.45pm: Worship and ministry – Preacher: Theo Donner
The detailed programme for the day will be posted here nearer the day.
There will be a Mission Club for primary school children from 2 to 4pm in the Marjorie
Sykes room on the first floor. We love including children in Annual Mission Day and
want them to connect with the work of world mission at an early age. This session
is being run by a team from Hayes Lane Baptist Church, Bromley. The theme is ‘Acts-
Friends House offers lots of circulation space in the corridors and courtyard. Friends House will again be handling all the catering. The basement restaurant will be serving hot meals from 12noon to 2.00pm and the café will be open throughout the day, with a selection of sandwiches, snacks and drinks. There are also many food outlets near the venue in the Euston Road.
AGM – 11am.
An important part of the day is our Annual General Meeting, where delegates from GBM member churches gather in the main hall at 11am to conduct the main business of the Mission – electing the officers and Council, receiving the Annual Report and approving the budget. Delegates papers will be sent out in October. If your church is eligible to send delegates, please send in your delegates nomination form as soon as possible.
Big events depend on lots of volunteers to operate safely and successfully. We are so thankful for all those who volunteer and, as always, we particularly need stewards for all the meetings. If you are able to help with this, please contact Mission Centre.
Friends House is opposite Euston Station in Euston Road, London, and is a ten minute walk from Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. The nearest underground station is Euston.
There is some car parking under Euston Station.
