Reaching Catholic Europe Today

2017 marks the 500 anniversary of Martin Luther’s publication of his ninety-five theses in Wittenberg in 1517, an event that sparked the Reformation across Europe. Today, parts of Europe are still dominated by Catholicism. We need to work through the challenges of mission in a Roman Catholic culture.

GBM is hosting a day conference in Abingdon on Thursday 11 May 2017, called ‘Reaching Catholic Europe today: Why the Reformation still matters.’ The speaker is Leonardo de Chirico. Leonardo is pastor of Chiesa Evangelica Breccia De Roma, a church plant at the heart of the city of Rome. He lectures in Historical Theology at IFED in Padua. He is also Director of the Reformanda Initiative, a new project which aims to ‘identify, equip and resource evangelical leaders to understand Roman Catholic theology and practice, to educate the evangelical Church and to communicate the gospel.’ Leonardo was also one of the speakers at our European Missionary Conference in Padua last year.

This event is a day conference for all those interested in understanding Roman Catholicism today, and the challenges it presents in mission. Whether you have a particular interest in mission in Europe, or have Roman Catholics living in your community and want to reach them with the gospel, this day is for you.
