Week of Prayer - Recruiting new workers

Join with us and hundreds of other churches across Britain in praying for new workers for mission.

Every year we spend a week focussing our prayers on particular needs. We hope that you and your church will want to join with us in this as we bring to God the needs of his world and seek to be involved in his kingdom through the work of prayer.

This year our focus is on the need to recruit new workers. Jesus invites us, ‘Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.’ (John 4:35-36)

We want to affirm that today is the time for mission, and the needs of the world were never greater than they are today. The world’s population doubled in the last forty years. 40% of the world’s population live in people groups where, as things stand, they will probably never hear a presentation of the gospel. There is therefore a great need to recruit new missionaries to reach the most unreached people groups in the world.

We hope that you will want to encourage people in your church to join us in praying for these great needs, and we have provided a number of resources to help. A 4-page prayer guide is included in the middle of the June edition of the GBM Herald. You can also download it here.

We have also produced a DVD of four short videos to be used in a church service, a prayer meeting or a home group. If you have not received a DVD for your church, please request one from the GBM office using the contact form.
