The radio team have been busy preparing for the Open Day taking place on Saturday 21 June at the Mission Centre in Abingdon.
There will be a live (in-house) radio station ‘on-air’ from 10.00 am to 3.15 pm. Programming is to include live and pre-recorded interviews with past members of the radio team as we look back at the last 50 years of GBM’s radio work. Ian Flanders is working on a display that will give an overview of GBM's involvement in the radio work from its early beginnings in India through to the current day. It will feature many photos of the various workers who have been engaged in this task and reminds us that radio has been, and remains, an important tool in modern mission.
A booklet marking 50 years of GBM’s radio has been written and compiled by former GBM worker, Philip Grist. He says:
“The title is actually taken from a caption that we put on our headed note paper, kind of a motto that John Appleby thought of based on the Authorised Version rendering of Jeremiah 22: 29, ‘O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord.’ We thought it would be may be a good title because that’s what Radio is doing, wanting the earth to hear the Word of the Lord and then it’s got a subtitle, ‘50 years of GBM Radio’.
The book tells the Radio story over the past 50 years from the rather primitive days in India and all the problems that we faced in those days, to the more sophisticated days of the 21st century. We’ve gone right through the whole of the story covering every era of the radio ministry to the present time.”
The booklet will be on sale at the Open Day at £2 per copy.

Each month new audio material is being added to the Programme List page. We’re aiming to keep in step with our series currently on air. (See below)
